Hi Jorg! How are you doing today?
Really, really, really fine!

Can you give us some background on yourself, such as where you currently reside and howyou got into electronic dance music?

I’m studying history and philosophy in Amsterdam, living really low budget in a lovely, to-be-demolished graffiti-on-the-walls apartment. I got into electronic music very abruptly. I remember going to queen’s day, I think it was in 2005, and there was a stage with this music I never heard before. It was so intense. The groove, the clear sounds, the pounding bass drums. Not long thereafter I started making my one tunes.

Can you share with us some highlights in your music career?

It all began one year ago. Fellow producer Sandji introduced me to Jason Wohlstadter (Proton Music). At that point Jason was just making plans for a new label, and my sound was about what he was looking for. That’s how I got my first release.  A few months later I won ‘Vinylized’, a Dutch producing competition, with the track ‘Jouissance’. It appeared on Eelke Kleijns ‘Outside The Box Music’ on Vinyl! That really got things going.

What projects are you currently working on?
Just finishing a remix for Jozef Kugler, All Goodness is in Jeopardy.

What projects do you have coming up?
Quite a few fresh original tracks are in the pipeline. Waiting on my harddrive to be finished. I’m also working on a remix for Pion which will appear on ‘A Must Have’ very soon.

Where do you find inspiration for your music?
It falls from the sky now and then. For some reason, mostly between 3 and 5 in the morning.

What is your studio set up like and what is your favorite VST Plug-in or tool to use to use when developing a track?
Laptop, Ableton, Headphones. I work with Korg Legacy and Synplant most of the time. My favorite tools these days are the overdrive and the saturator. Just small amounts can really give the most plastic sounds more warmth and depth.

What do you like to do in your spare time?
Read the work of Slavoj Zizek.

If you could take only 3 things with you to desert island, what would they be and why?
Laptop, Ableton, Headphones.

Finally, tell us about your track(s) on AlterImage Recordings.
Zijdelingse Bespiegelingen is the deep one. Onyva is the happy one. Two sides of Jorg Murcus in one package
